The dream for any college basketball player in his country is to lead their school to the National Championship, win an NCAA title and then take their talents to the NBA level. Even though players on the collegiate level are amongst the best in the world and extremely talented at times, not every player that suits up for a college basketball program can make the jump to the NBA.
With that being said, a lot of players end up going pro and something else after their college basketball careers over as they just weren’t good enough to play on the NBA level. This season we have seen plenty of superstar caliber players like Jimmer Fredette (BYU Cougars), Kemba Walker (UConn Huskies), Derrick Williams (Arizona Wildcats) and Jared Sullinger (Ohio State Buckeyes) that are considered to be legitimate candidates to play in the NBA next year or in the near future, but despite their talent and ability to dominate on the college level right now, maybe only one or two of these players will actually succeed at the next level.
Out of these four collegiate superstars only one is left standing in the 2011 NCAA Tournament as Kemba Walker will try and leave the UConn Huskies (3) to victory over the Kentucky Wildcats (4) in the Final Four.
With the three other players already heading home the debate has begun about what kind of value these guys will have headed into the NBA draft. Jimmer Fredette and Derrick Williams will almost certainly enter the NBA draft and could get drafted in the first round, but Jared Sullinger on the other hand looks like he could be headed back to the Ohio State Buckeyes for one more year.
This is somewhat surprising move for the youngster as he would almost certainly be one of the top draft picks in next year’s NBA draft, but he feels like he still has a chance to lead this Buckeyes squad to a National Championship and will give one more shot next year.
